Liminal Combo

a score?

2007

A 30 minute long video will be projected. it consists of a series of short (1 minute) to 2 minute long 'moving stills'. They were shot in Laos and Thailand.

I set the camera down and just let it run, getting whatever was happening at the time. Consider them 'ambient' films of some sort. Most are very quiet, some are very active.
These videos will be projected in the theater, and so will the sound from these videos.

A small group of people will sit on the floor level facing the screen and improvise sounds in reaction to these videos.

The idea for this situation is that the players integrate sounds that we make with the sounds or visual motions which occurred in the places that were shot on video.

The other half of the liminal combo are the 'players' in the videos who were just doing whatever when recorded..kites, cars, rivers, kids, bikes, etc..One could think that any sound or visual element in the videos as the other players in the combo.
